TORONTO — Family, friends and colleagues will gather to celebrate the life of John McKenna on Saturday, June 25, 2022 in Fergus, ON.

John passed away in November 2021 at the age of 86 after a long battle with vascular issues and cancer.

Always affable and always with a smile, John was a great storyteller and a mainstay at industry events. For so many years and for so many people John was the face of the Canadian travel insurance industry.

John began his professional career as a personnel administration manager for Air France and later did sales for Air France.

His career took a new path when he joined Voyageur Travel Insurance as a district sales manager. Soon he was promoted to VP Sales, Eastern Canada for Voyageur, and ultimately he came President after Voyageur became a nation-wide entity.

Voyageur was purchased by the Royal Bank of Canada and prior to his retirement, John sat on the Board of Directors of the RBC Insurance Group as vice-chairman.

John was also a husband, brother, father, grandfather, uncle and great-grandfather.

The celebration of life will take place from 2 – 5 p.m. on June 25 at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 275 in Fergus, about a 90-minute drive from Toronto. The address in Fergus is 500 Blair St. and the phone number is (519) 843-2345.
