TORONTO — Last Friday’s YellowBird Charity Golf Classic raised more than $35,000 for the YellowBird Charitable Foundation and drew more than 140 travel industry insiders to Glen Abbey Golf Club.
The tournament attracted a full field of golfers who enjoyed a great day of golf, hosted by founding sponsor Travelweek in partnership with title sponsors WestJet and WestJet Vacations, in support of this worthy cause. Fundraising activities included live and silent auctions, raffles and event sponsorships.
“The YellowBird Charity Golf Classic is now heading into its 17th year and every year it gets better and better,” said Travelweek Publisher, Gerry Kinasz. “We can’t wait for next year.”
The YellowBird Charitable Foundation is dedicated to helping children in the Caribbean and Latin America as a way to say ‘thanks’ for providing memorable vacation experiences for Canadian travellers to those regions.
The YellowBird Foundation participates in activities that focus on supporting local schools and educational programs; providing financial, consultative training and infrastructure support; cooperating with locals to better understand their needs; and fundraising in Canada to finance projects and programs throughout the regions.
YellowBird also partners with The Sandals Foundation and Toronto’s SickKids Hospital to assist in the treatment of Caribbean children with cancer to ensure the best care possible.
The YellowBird Charitable Foundation has donated over $300,000 across the Caribbean and Latin America since its inception in 2005. In 2015 over $42,000 was raised in a single day.
