JEDDAH — Kevin McCallister’s mom, brilliantly played by Catherine O’Hara in the movie ‘Home Alone’, is probably the only person who can relate to the woman who recently forgot her baby at the airport.

Like the McCallisters, who famously left their son Kevin behind during their mad dash through an airport terminal, the Saudi woman boarded her flight in Jeddah last weekend, not realizing that she had left her baby at the terminal of King Abdul Aziz International Airport.

Flight SV832 then took off on time for Kuala Lumpur, sans baby.

When the woman realized her mistake, she immediately alerted the flight crew, who then alerted the pilot. The pilot radioed in to air traffic control, requesting to return to the airport.

Understandably, the air traffic controller had to ask the pilot to repeat the request, not believing it the first time.

“We told you, a passenger left her baby in the terminal and refuses to continue the flight,” the pilot is overheard in a video clip that has since gone viral, reports Gulf News. “May God be with us. Can we come back or what?” the pilot asks.

The air traffic controller can then be heard asking a colleague about what the protocol would be in such a situation. After more back-and-forth, he finally gives the go ahead: “Ok, head back to the gate. This is totally a new one for us!”

According to radar tracking sites, the flight was delayed by approximately 45 minutes following the mid-air turnaround. No word as to whether the woman was eventually reunited with her baby. Let’s hope the two had a happy reunion, just like Kevin and his mom.
