TORONTO — Sheryll Donovan of Northstar Travel has been named the winner of Myrtle Beach’s ‘Win Big with The Beach’ contest.
Based in Kitchener, Ontario, Donovan has won a $500 Visa gift card after participating in the contest, which launched in December 2022.
Saying that she was “delighted” to win, Donovan, who has never been to the Myrtle Beach area, hopes to now one day visit.
Located in South Carolina, Myrtle Beach is home to 60 miles of beaches and 14 coastal communities. In 2022, Myrtle Beach International Airport saw record attendance, says Karen Riordan, president and CEO of Visit Myrtle Beach, “and we’re determined to continue that upward projection through 2023.”
The destination has been buzzing with news of soon-to-open attractions and offerings. Major revitalization efforts are underway in downtown Myrtle Beach, which include the planned construction of new stores, restaurants and a gym in the Arts & Innovation District, plus the restoration of the Broadway Theater into a 300-seat performing arts center.
Myrtle Beach will also be home to South Carolina’s first man-made surf park called Surfworks. Opening soon, the park will feature a surfing lagoon that will generate up to 1,000 waves per hour between 2-6 feet tall, an amphitheatre to accommodate up to 15,000 people, a surf school, a restaurant and a brewery.
Other new offerings include all-new experiences at Ripley’s Aquarium, and a new family entertainment complex called Stars and Strikes Getaway-n-Play, coming in February 2023 and featuring an augmented reality bowling experience, arcade, laser tag arena and axe throwing.
