TORONTO — Ladies and gentlemen, may we present … Air New Zealand’s flight crew!
Two flight attendants with some serious pipes and a cheerful attitude have become Internet sensations for providing their very own in-flight entertainment on recent Air New Zealand flights.
The first attendant, Cecilia, has gained somewhat of a following for delivering her flight announcements to the tune of Simon & Garfunkel’s 1970 hit, ‘Cecilia.’
The airline shared a video on its Facebook page of Cecilia serenading her passengers, many of whom applauded her efforts and sang along.
“We had Cecilia on our flight from Whangarei to Auckland. She was awesome and she sung us her song. Every time I hear that song, it makes me smile,” wrote Janet Anne Emery.
Tania Price, another recent passengers, also wrote: “We flew with Cecelia last weekend from Nelson. Great vocals! Loved the vibe in our small plane, you made our trip home a happy one.”
Not to be outdone, however, is another Air New Zealand flight attendant named Christian who was seen on video serenading his passengers with an incredible rendition of ‘Amazing Grace’. The video, which has been shared close to 300 times, pulled at the heartstrings of many travellers.
“Emotional for me as this song was played at my uncle’s funeral & will always hold a special place in my heart,” wrote Alison Cross.
Other passengers praised Air New Zealand for employing such talented crew.
“When staff does amazing things it tells a lot of the company’s culture,” wrote Top Fan.
And Al Price said, “Love your work AirNZ. Airline karaoke here to stay!”
