WestJet flew record 1.8 million passengers in October

CALGARY — October proved to be a very busy month for WestJet, which flew a record 1.8 million guests, representing a year-over-year increase of 14.2%.

The airline’s October 2016 traffic results showed a load factor of 79.7%, an increase of 2.6 percentage points year over year. Revenue passenger miles (RPMs), or traffic, increased 18.7% year over year, while capacity (measured in available seat miles, or ASMs, grew 14.8% over the same period.

“We are pleased with our sixth consecutive month of double-digit traffic growth as we achieved our second-highest October load factor and flew a record number of guests,” said WestJet President and CEO Gregg Saretsky. “My sincere thanks go out to our almost 12,000 WestJetters for their continuing passion and commitment as we transition into the busy winter season.”
