SINGAPORE — Hold that plane! In what could be the plot for Disney’s next feel-good flick, a family of otters was caught on surveillance cameras running loose on the tarmac at Singapore Changi last week.
It’s believed that the adorable sea animals were hunting for food and a place to sleep and breed. Or maybe they were just late for their flight?
No flights were delayed as a result of their antics. They were promptly escorted by airport staff to nearby Changi Beach.
“Besides regular wildlife patrols, a surveillance system is in place to prevent and detect foreign object debris, including wildlife. Safety is a top priority at Changi Airport. Should any wildlife be detected on the runway, flight operations will be halted temporarily so that the safety team can attend to the situation immediately,” said a Changi Airport spokesperson in a statement.
We can only assume that the adorable otters have settled down in Changi Beach. But we also can’t help but wonder, had they just arrived the recommended three hours before departure, whether they’d be lying on a beach in the Bahamas right now.
