VisitBritain predicts strong recovery in inbound visitor spending in 2023

Visit Britain is cheering the UK’s soon-to-reopen status

TORONTO — Visit Britain is cheering the destination’s soon-to-reopen status with updates about protocols that will pave the way for increased travel to the UK.

As announced earlier this week, effective Feb. 11, 2022 all testing measures for eligible fully vaccinated travellers arriving in the UK will be removed.

Only a Passenger Locator Form will be required, says Visit Britain.

Arrivals who do not fulfil the criteria for being fully vaccinated will need to take a pre-departure test and then complete a PCR test within two days of their arrival in the UK. Those passengers will not need to self-isolate on arrival, and will only need to isolate should they receive a positive result.

Visit Britain notes that each country within the UK – including England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland  – continues to follow its own roadmap to recovery and may have different rules in place, and says visitors should check ahead for restrictions and read requirements carefully.

The UK’s events calendar includes the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee (marking the 70th anniversary of the accession of Queen Elizabeth II); Unboxed 2022, a series of 10 large-scale engagement projects celebrating the UK’s creativity and innovation; the international mutli-sport Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games; and the 75th anniversary of the Edinburgh International Festival.
