MIAMI — One of the original ‘disruptors’ in an incredibly wide range of industries, from music, air travel and hotels to banking and even health care, Virgin is ready to make good on its promise to make waves in the cruise industry with a big announcement on Oct. 18.

At its website, virgincruises.com, the company promises “these will not be your average cruise ships”, adding “we’re here to make your travels irresistible”.

In 2015 Virgin Cruises signed a letter of intent with shipbuilder Fincantieri for three cruise ships to be delivered in 2020, 2021 and 2022.

A teaser email sent to travel media says the big news will be announced at 1 p.m. on Oct. 18 in Miami Beach.
