ORLANDO — Universal Orlando Resort is counting down the days until the grand opening of its newest land: Minion Land on Illumination Avenue.

Opening its doors on Aug. 11, 2023 at Universal Studios Florida, Minion Land – currently in preview for guests – is a joint venture between the visionary teams at Universal Creative and Illumination. 

Highlights include ‘Illumination’s Villain-Con Minion Blast,’ a first-of-its-kind attraction featuring immersive sets and interactive game-based technology, ‘Illumination’s Minion Café,’ and the outdoor ‘Illumination Theater’ where guests can meet, greet and interact with beloved characters from the ‘Despicable Me’ franchise and the hit film ‘Sing.’ There’ll also be no shortage of places to eat, with eateries that include ‘Illumination’s Minion Café,’ run by the Minions themselves, ‘Pop-A-Nana’ kiosk featuring banana-flavoured popcorn, ‘Freeze Ray Pops,’ a walk-up window serving frozen treats, and ‘Bake My Day,’ a retail location and bakery featuring Minion-themed sweet treats.

NEW LAND COMING IN 2024

Following the debut of Minion Land next month, Universal Orlando Resort has announced that an all-new themed land featuring beloved animated characters by DreamWorks Animations is coming in 2024. 

The new land is part of a wider collection of new entertainment experiences set to debut at Universal Orlando Resort, and is a continuation of Universal’s commitment to storytelling that places guests of all ages in the midst of immersive environments.

When guests step into the new land, they will meet such beloved characters as Gabby from ‘Gabby’s Dollhouse,’ and explore themed, interactive play spaces and attractions that bring popular franchises like ‘Shrek,’ ‘Trolls’ and ‘Kung Fu Panda’ to life.
