TORONTO — Porter Airlines is adding a pair of Newfoundland routes to Eastern Canada starting in June.
The new routes include the only nonstop Ottawa-St. John’s flight currently on the market, plus the introduction of Deer Lake as a new destination, with service to Halifax.
“Newfoundland is already an important piece of Porter’s network, with existing service connecting St John’s with Toronto-Pearson and Halifax. These new routes mean that passengers have more options to enjoy many of Canada’s signature spots, while enjoying the journey as well as the destination,” says Kevin Jackson, President, Porter Airlines.
Daily roundtrip Ottawa and St. John’s flights on Porter’s E195-E2s start June 6. It’s the first time in five years that any Canadian carrier has served the route. Ottawa is a Porter hub, offering passengers connecting flights from St. John’s to more than a dozen destinations in Canada and the U.S.
Flights depart Ottawa at 2:10 p.m., arriving in St. John’s at 6:25 p.m. On the return leg, flights depart St. John’s at 6 a.m., arriving in Ottawa at 7:45 a.m.
Meanwhile new daily roundtrip service between Deer Lake and Halifax starts June 4, on Dash 8-400s.
Flights depart Halifax at 12:45 p.m., arriving in Deer Lake at 2:43 p.m. On the return leg, flights depart Deer Lake at 3:25 p.m., arriving in Halifax at 4:30 p.m.
