WestJet’s double-digit increases in total seat capacity across 10 major Canadian airports include Calgary (11%), Edmonton (23%), Kelowna (15%), Montreal (31%), Ottawa (36%), Regina (23%), Saskatoon (19%), Vancouver (12%), Victoria (18%) and Winnipeg (19%).

Two new domestic destinations for the airline – Sudbury, ON and Sydney, NS – will offer direct and exclusive service to Calgary.

Sudbury, currently the largest metropolitan area in Canada without WestJet operations, will get 2x weekly service to Calgary. Sydney, NS will also get two flights a week to Calgary. Passengers from both cities will benefit from WestJet’s long list of onward connections from its hub.

The airline will have 3x weekly access between Calgary and RDU, June 9 – Oct. 13

Salt Lake City, UT

WestJet will offer 5x weekly service between Edmonton and Salt Lake City, from May 15 through Oct. 24

In addition to these three new destinations, WestJet’s transborder highlights for summer 2025 continue with a new Calgary-Minneapolis route (4x weekly, May 6 – Sept. 3), a new Edmonton-Chicago route (3x weekly, June 4 – Oct. 22), a new Vancouver-Boston route (daily, June 9 – Oct. 13) and an extension of winter service to year-round service on the Kelowna-Seattle route (daily).

WestJet is also ramping up summer connectivity from Western Canada to Florida. Calgary-Fort Lauderdale is going year-round (1x weekly), and so is Calgary-Tampa (1x weekly) and Winnipeg-Orlando (1x weekly). Not only that, but a new route, Vancouver-Tampa, will operate 1x weekly June 14 – Oct. 25.

All in all WestJet will grow its transborder service by 11% this summer, operating to 29 airports with over 900 weekly departures, and continuing to enhance its connectivity from across Canada to Delta Air Line’s major U.S. hubs.

EUROPE & ASIA: CONTINUED EXPANSION

For summer 2025 WestJet will introduce nonstop connectivity between St. John’s and Paris. The airline will also bring back service between Halifax and Paris and St. John’s and Dublin.

WestJet is also boosting its existing transatlantic connectivity, beginning its service between Halifax and Edinburgh and Dublin one month earlier than 2024, while increasing St. John’s previous service to London (Gatwick) from 3x weekly to 4x weekly.

Across the Pacific, WestJet will maintain its daily service to Tokyo for summer 2025, while increasing Calgary’s capacity serving Incheon.

As it looks towards summer 2025, WestJet noted that “the acquisition of nine leased Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, along with Swoop and Sunwing planes, allows the airline to bolster its strategic fleet growth, while managing delays for direct-from-factory aircraft. Updating and refreshing the interior cabins of all of these aircraft will be prioritized as part of the airline’s existing fleet reconfiguration plans, to ensure a consistent experience for guests across its operation as soon as possible.”
