Trump causing more headaches for his hotels

TORONTO — Calls have been made to rename the Toronto and Vancouver Trump Hotels after Donald Trump announced that he wanted to ban all Muslims from entering the U.S. during a campaign rally on Monday.

The request for the name change came from Toronto city councilor, Josh Matlow on Twitter, who said, “I believe the owners of Toronto’s Trump Tower should change its name. Toronto is a diverse & respectful city. Donald Trump is a fascist.” He followed up the tweet with, “I’m writing to the owners of the Trump Tower today to make this request.”

Matlow also pointed out on 680 News that Trump has made anti-Mexican comments and says it’s time for Toronto to disassociate itself from the Trump brand.

Vancouver had the same request. “As #Trump calls to ban Muslims from entering the U.S., I seriously suggest that Vancouverites call on @TrumpVancouver to remove his name,” tweeted former city planner Brent Toderian.

Name changes aren’t the only issue facing ‘The Donald’. His previous comments about Mexicans were used against him to unionize his Las Vegas hotel. A Trump hotelkeeper from Argentina told the Guardian, “Eighty percent of Trump [culinary] employees are Latino. He is very wrong to say that we’re criminals and drug addicts. We are people who work hard for our families.”

On Monday the staff voted to join the Culinary Workers Union Local 226 and the Bartenders Union Local 165, despite opposition from management.
