Just in time for the 2014/15 winter season, Travelweek sits down with Denise Anderson, CHA, Director of Sales for Prince Resorts Hawaii, to find out more about Prince Resorts’ three distinct properties. With Prince Resorts locations on Hawaii Island and Oahu, travellers will find everything from all oceanfront rooms to championship golf — and with the ‘Fall into Winter’ promotion on now, it couldn’t be a better time for clients to get booking.
Travelweek: What are some of the key points that highlight each of Prince Resorts Hawaii’s three properties?
Denise Anderson, Prince Resorts Hawaii: Hawaii Prince Hotel Waikiki, located on Oahu, is a terrific option for clients looking for convenience and value. Across the street from Ala Moana Shopping Center, the hotel offers a complimentary shuttle throughout Waikiki and to the Hawaii Prince Golf Club, the only golf course run by a Waikiki hotel. Plus, all 541 rooms are oceanfront so guests can enjoy beautiful Hawaiian sunrises and sunsets every day.
Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel, located on Hawaii Island, perched on a hillside overlooking the #1 rated Hapuna Beach, also offers all oceanview rooms along with an 18-hole championship golf course, full service spa and reciprocal signing privileges with the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel.
Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, also on Hawaii Island, is a landmark of luxury on the sunny Kohala Coast. Originally opened in 1965 by Laurance Rockefeller, The Mauna Kea offers world-class golf, exquisite dining and impeccable service.
T: Do you have any incentive programs in place for Canadian agents? Are there special rates in place for agents who’d like to experience Prince Resorts first hand?
DA: We offer fantastic travel agent rates year-round, but the best time to visit is during our Mahalo Months (May & September) when we offer a complimentary night at all of our properties and special rates on additional nights. We also offer a travel agent loyalty program, Plumeria Rewards. As a member, agents’ clients will receive a special amenity in the form of a resort credit, along with a personalized welcome note sent on the agent’s behalf. Agents earn points for booking Prince Resorts Hawaii, which can be redeemed for complimentary room nights, golf rounds, dining and resort logo merchandise. Members are also eligible for special travel agent rates and cash rewards for qualified bookings.
T: Late in 2013, Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel completed extensive refurbishments. Can you tell us a little bit about what the refresh entailed?
DA: In Mauna Kea Beach Hotel’s beachfront wing, built in 1968, rooms were refreshed in a clean and contemporary, yet traditional style. Upgrades included a plush bedding package, floor treatments and new interior and lanai (balcony) furniture. Highlights of the bathroom makeovers include new, five-piece fixtures and new soaking tubs with oceanviews.
At Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel guestrooms were recently re-done with new bedding, room and lanai furniture and new wall and floor treatments. A large 55″ high definition flat screen TV was added to each room. In addition, Hapuna’s lobby and three restaurants were refreshed and updated with modern furnishings.
T: Is there anything new and exciting in the works at Hawaii Prince Hotel Waikiki?
DA: The Hawaii Prince now offers discerning guests an extra measure of comfort and service with upgraded rooms exclusively on the 31st floor of both towers, including a private executive lounge. The hotel recently launched a new sake dinner series at Hakone and is also looking forward to a year-long celebration to commemorate its 25th anniversary in 2015.
T: Are there any specials or promotions you’ll be offering through the fall and winter months that agents can alert their clients about?
DA: One of our most popular packages, the ‘Fall Into Winter’ promotion, is one of the best values of the year offering free nights and resort credits. For complete information, visit www.princeresortshawaii.com/fall.
