TORONTO — TravelBrands raised $283,515 for SickKids Foundation at its seventh annual Charity Golf Classic.
The big event took place Sept. 8 at Eagles Nest Golf Club in Maple, ON. Thanks to the strong support of partners and industry colleagues, TravelBrands successfully raised $283,515 for the Labatt Family Heart Centre at The Hospital for Sick Children.
The cheque was presented to a SickKids representative and SickKids patient alumni at the end of the evening.
Frank DeMarinis, CEO, TravelBrands says the monies raised symbolize hope for the heartbreaking battles that so many children and families are facing.
“Getting the chance to do this again after a two-year pause was truly extraordinary,” says DeMarinis.
“As a recognized SickKids Foundation Catalyst Donor, we have raised over $1.8 million dollars for SickKids to date, with a focus on their cardiac department to help improve and save so many lives. I want to thank all of our incredible partners, colleagues, staff, and travel industry friends who came together to make this happen. This is just the beginning as we commit to raising another $1.5 million to bring our total to over $3 million for SickKids Foundation,” he added.
With blue skies and perfect temperatures, the day included a putting contest, a beat the executive challenge, an oyster bar,
an ice cream truck, and of course, the event’s signature helicopter ball drop.
The day wrapped up with dinner, a silent and live auction, and impactful words from SickKids Alumni David Maggiori, who received a standing ovation.
TravelBrands runs several giving campaigns for the SickKids Foundation throughout the year, including an employee 5-kilometre walk and SickKids Day, where 1% of all sales are donated.
