JTB celebrates Jamaica and the travel trade at the ‘Bob Marley One Love Experience’

TORONTO — The Jamaica Tourist Board, showcasing a one-of-a-kind immersive experience celebrating the legendary Bob Marley at the Lighthouse ArtSpace Toronto through Aug. 14, welcomed the travel industry last night for a sneak peek.

The ‘Bob Marley One Love Experience ‘includes never-before-seen Marley photographs and memorabilia, and takes visitors through an interactive journey through his life, passions, influences and his legacy, all set to the musician’s legendary sound.

The immersive experience, at 1 Yonge St. in Toronto, celebrates the life of the much-loved and revered musician, who shared his own take on Jamaican culture, activism and identity worldwide through his music.

The event space includes the Music Room, the One Love Forest that pays tribute to the lush vegetation so associated with Jamaica, the Soul Shakedowns Studio where participants can find their spirit listening to Bob Marley’s music through headphones, and Concrete Jungle Street.

There’s also the Art Expo that recognizes how fans around the world have shared their love to Marley, and the Next Gen Zone carrying Marley’s message forward, and the ‘One Love Tree’ where visitors can leave their own message. Each room presents a unique element to the life of Marley and his special and impactful presence in the world. In attendance to  share in the excitement at last night’s festivities were Angella Bennett, Regional Director Canada, Jamaica Tourist Board; Dan Hamilton, District Sales Manager, Jamaica Tourist Board; Lincoln Downer, Consul General for Jamaica; Dina Bertolo, Air Canada Vacations; and Maureen Barnes-Smith, Unique Vacations Inc.

“In celebrating Jamaica’s 60th anniversary, our theme is reigniting a nation, and we want to thank all the Jamaica 60 sponsors here tonight that have helped us to encourage all Jamaicans living in Canada to come home, rediscover their roots, and reignite their passion for Jamaican culture,” says Bennett.

Celebrating Jamaica’s Diamond Jubilee landmark on August 6, big celebrations will take place all around Greater Toronto, Hamilton, and the Niagara area. Some of these events include a special illumination of Niagara Falls, church services, flag raising ceremonies, and sporting and cultural events.
