Transformation of Sandals St. Lucia golf course underway with recent visit by Greg Norman

ST. LUCIA — Who better than Greg ‘The Shark’ Norman to help transform Sandals St. Lucia Golf & Country Club at Cap Estate?

The golf legend recently met with Sandals Resorts International Deputy Chairman and CEO Adam Stewart in Saint Lucia to discuss transformation plans for the 18-hole golf course, which is the newest addition to the Sandals brand on the island.

Sandals Resorts acquired the Club last year, with massive plans for expansion and redesign by Greg Norman Golf Course Design, which previously created the award-winning golf course at Sandals Emerald Bay. Norman and his team will convert the facility into a new, international standard Championship Golf Course.

According to Stewart, the new course could be completed in the next 12 to 14 months. “It’s going to be a game-changer for this destination and it’s going to be a game-changer for our company.”

Norman added: “This golf course is a diamond in the rough and we are thrilled and honoured that Sandals has asked our design firm to bring it to life. We have a fantastic partnership with Sandals and the Stewarts, and look forward to working on another destination with their team in Saint Lucia.”

Going beyond the enhanced golfing facilities, Sandals also plans to break ground on a fourth resort in Saint Lucia in 2018 – Sandals La Source Saint Lucia. The resort, which Stewart confirms is on track, will mark the beginning of the unprecedented Sandals program ‘Stay at One, Play at Four’ on the island.

“The construction and operations of this new 380-room resort will bring hundreds of new jobs to the island,” he said. “It will employ 900 more Saint Lucians permanently, as well as 1,200 Saint Lucians during the construction phase. It will also continue to transform Saint Lucia into one of the top golf paradises in the Caribbean.”
