MONTREAL — Transat has appointed Howard Liebman to the role of Vice President, Government Relations.
Reporting to Bernard Bussières, Chief Legal Affairs and Government Relations Officer and Corporate Secretary, Liebman will continue to represent Air Transat in the governmental landscape while building relationships across all levels of government. He first joined Transat in 2018 and has since been instrumental in consolidating relationships with government partners.
Prior to joining Transat, Liebman served as Chief of Staff and Executive Assistant to Canada’s former Minister of Justice & Attorney General and was also Senior Advisor (international and intergovernmental relations) to the former mayor of Montreal. He has also served and led various community organizations, particularly in education and health.
As a lawyer and lifelong aviation enthusiast, Liebman has engage widely across government, industry, community and diplomatic partners during his time at Transat. His appointment follows a particularly turbulent period in the aviation industry, during which he was called upon to accompany Air Transat and the wider sector’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

His cross-functional understanding of the various departments is remarkable. His tenacity, perseverance and judgment have been key to getting through the pandemic.”
