LOS ANGELES — Tourism Malaysia has appointed Linawati Ismail as its new Deputy Director, Americas.
Based in Los Angeles, Ismail will oversee promotion of Malaysia as a tourism destination in Canada and the United States.
A native of Kuching, Sarawak, Ismail has worked for Tourism Malaysia’s interests around the world since 2008 before joining the U.S.-based team earlier this year. Her previous positions include serving as part of the Director General’s team in Kuala Lumpur, coordinating Tourism Malaysia’s presence in Parliament, and preparing speeches and media statements for the Minister of Tourism and the Director General. She also worked in the International Promotion department where she oversaw promotion of Tourism Malaysia in Brunei, Indonesia and the Philippines, as well as the Advertising and Digital Division where she oversaw the promotional campaigns for all of Asia and the Middle East.
On her new role as Deputy Director, Ismail said: “It is an honour for me to continue my tenure with Tourism Malaysia here in the United States. Since moving here, I have become convinced that this is a market that is eager to learn about and explore our amazing destination. I am excited to start that education process with our travel partners here in the Americas.
