Profit and purpose: Intrepid achieves record-breaking year

TORONTO — Intrepid Travel has reported the best year in its 35-year history, reinforcing that purpose-driven travel is not just the future – it is also a strong business strategy today.

According to Intrepid’s 2024 Integrated Annual Report, the company saw double-digit growth, with revenue reaching $392.6 million USD, up 17% year-over-year, and EBITDA climbing to a record-breaking $26.9 million USD, a 24% increase.

Intrepid’s purpose-led model continues to thrive, showing that financial success and social responsibility go hand in hand.

  • US$392.6 million in revenue, marking the highest performance in the company’s history
  • $26.9 million in EBITDA, proving that sustainable travel is a serious business
  • $8 million in bonuses distributed to eligible employees in cash and shares
  • 555 staff shareholders, bringing Intrepid’s co-founders’ vision of employee ownership to life
  • Second consecutive year of dividend payments

Commitment to Sustainability & Positive Impact

Beyond financial achievements, Intrepid deepened its commitment to sustainability and social impact in 2024:

  • Re-certified as a B Corp with its highest-ever score of 102.5 points, placing it among the world’s top B Corps, alongside Patagonia
  • The Intrepid Foundation raised $1.5 million for grassroots partners in 39 countries
  • Acknowledging challenges with its decarbonisation program, the company is increasing investments to accelerate progress in this area

Expansion Plans for 2025

With North America as a key focus, Intrepid in making significant moves in 2025, including:

  • Opening a new U.S. sales and marketing office in Seattle
  • Expanding global operations with new country offices (DMCs), including Denmark and Amsterdam (via the acquisition of Dutch travel company Sawadee Reizen)

Customers & Employees More Engaged Than Ever

Intrepid also recorded its highest-ever customer and employee satisfaction scores:

  • 81.5 Net Promoter Score (NPS), up 4.5 points, demonstrating record customer satisfaction
  • 64 employee Net Promoter Score (eNPS), an all-time high, showing increased employee engagement across its 3,399 employees and tour leaders
