It’s been another busy month in the world of travel and G Adventures!
From sponsoring the Outdoor Adventure Shows in Toronto, Vancouver and Calgary, with accompanying ‘An Evening with G Adventures & Friends’ roadshows to meet our agency partners, we’ve been burning the midnight oil. A special thanks goes out to all the tourist board partners that joined us at these events, and to all the agents who came out to see us.
As busy as it has been, when you love what you do, it doesn’t feel like work. Purpose is a popular word in the G Adventures vernacular, and it’s this sense of purpose that motivates me to do my best work every day, no matter how busy we are.
Our founder, Bruce Poon Tip, added purpose and passion to the traditional triple bottom line business model of profit, people and planet, creating a ‘quintuple bottom line’ model that G Adventures runs its business by.
When people travel with G Adventures, we often hear feedback that our travellers are amazed at how like-minded everyone is on our trips. I’m convinced that it is our sense of purpose and passion over purely making a profit that helps create that magic.
This sense of purpose runs throughout the business, and extends beyond our sense of personal purpose to the purpose we have as an organization – doing the right thing and giving back to the communities we visit on our trips.
We’ve recently launched our Change Makers agent incentive, as well as our GX Summit details. SPOILER ALERT: it will be held in India this September!
There are many ways to qualify whether that’s through changing people’s lives via bookings, or by driving donations for our non-profit partner, Planeterra.
This past month, the sense of purpose has felt so real for me as I saw how engaged our agents were at our events.
The curiosity and passion they have is infectious, and inspires us to keep motivated and striving to deliver our purpose every day.
Selling adventure travel can be complex, and we can’t do it without our valued agency partners.
At our events, we shared insights on travel trends, spoke about our new Geluxe Collection, delved into Planeterra, learned more about Trees for Days, and launched our new and improved Private Group policies. More details will follow during our dedicated webinars in April and May.
This International Women’s Day, we announced five new projects designed to empower women in the communities we travel to. We live and breathe our purpose every day, and hundreds of our travellers have the privilege of seeing this in action on trips around the world, even as I write this.
Finally, a huge shout out to our Global Connection officers (GCOs) in our Boombox call centre. We’ve had back-to-back record breaking months, we’ve handled an increase in sales and service enquiries and our service level rates have improved to some of our best ever results.
We have a core value based on Leading with Service, and I’m pleased to say we’ve been receiving a lot of positive feedback about how incredible our service has been at such a busy time.
We strive to do our best, and we will continue to find ways to support our travel agent community, and to demonstrate passion and purpose in only the way G Adventures can!
Until next time.
Peace,
DG
