TORONTO — Contiki has introduced three new itineraries in Indonesia as demand for Asia continues to surge.
The new trips – ‘Bali Island Hopping’, ‘Komodo & Flores Sail’ and ‘Indonesia Island Hopping’ – follows the success of Contiki’s Philippines Island Hopping adventure, offering travellers a dynamic mix of culture, adventure and island exploration. Departures start in July 2025.
According to the youth travel brand, demand for travel to Bali and Asia has increased significantly, with searches for ‘Bali vacations’ up 234% year-over-year and ‘Bali trips’ increasing by 53%. Interest in Asia travel rebounded strongly in Q3, with a 52% spike in searches, despite the long-haul distance from North America. Contiki’s own data reflects this trend, with Bali ranking as the most-searched destination among locations where the brand previously had no active itineraries. Additionally, 2025 bookings for Asia have already risen nearly 20% compared to 2024.
“Bali has earned its reputation as a hotspot for young travellers, but there’s so much more to discover beyond its nightlife. There are incredible local traditions and cultural experiences that deserve recognition,” says Melissa DaSilva, interim CEO of TTC Tour Brands. “We’re excited to offer our travellers the chance to experience it all with these new Indonesia trips.”
NEW ITINERARIES FOR EVERY STYLE OF TRAVELLER
The eight-day ‘Bali Island Hopping’ trip offers an immersive experience in Ubud, where travellers will meet locals to learn traditional cooking and farming techniques. Adventure-seekers can take part in white-water rafting, diving and snorkelling excursions, including a day trip to the world-famous Gili Islands.
For those looking to explore Indonesia’s lesser-known gems, ‘Komodo & Flores Sail’ is a six-day adventure that begins with an included flight to Labuan Bajo. Travellers will then board a houseboat for a two-night stay, visiting Komodo Island with a local park ranger to see the famous Komodo dragons in their natural habitat. The itinerary also includes a guided trek, a visit to the stunning Pink Beach, snorkelling with manta rays at Manta Point and a trip to Kalong Island, home to thousands of bats.
For those wanting the best of both experiences, ‘Indonesia Island Hopping’ combines the highlights of Bali and Komodo into an action-packed 13-day itinerary featuring cultural, adventure and sailing experiences.
“We know our travellers have been waiting for us to introduce Indonesia trips, specifically to Bali,” says Taryn Welsh, Director of Operations for Contiki – Asia & Australia. “These itineraries go beyond the typical party scene and showcase a deeper, more adventurous side of Bali. We’re seeing a growing trend where young travellers seek more culturally rich and active experiences, and these trips are designed to meet that demand.”
With the launch of these itineraries, Contiki has introduced more than 50 new trips in the past 18 months, including ‘Borneo Adventure’, ‘Ancient Wonders: Rome, Athens & Cairo’ and ‘Albania Beaches and Peaks’.
