TORONTO — TICO has launched a new video series to support travel counsellor recruitment into the industry.
Says TICO: “As the travel industry moves through the pandemic recovery process, labour shortages continue to be a significant challenge for travel agencies and tour operators. As new sellers enter the industry, it is essential that all travel counsellors understand their obligations under the consumer protection laws administered by TICO, starting with certification.”
As TICO notes, becoming TICO-certified is the first step towards a career in travel sales in Ontario.

TICO is urging Ontario registrants to share the videos as the industry works to re-staff following the pandemic: “We know that Ontario’s travel agencies and tour operators are working hard to recruit new talent. Please consider sharing the video series as part of your recruitment process.”

TICO is also collaborating with Ontario’s colleges that feature a Travel & Tourism program, to highlight travel sales as a potential career path for students. This complements TICO’s existing relationship with these programs, where TICO often speaks to students about TICO’s role and the certification process.
