MISSISSAUGA — TICO has won an award for its video series supporting travel counsellor recruitment into the industry.
TICO launched the video series in October 2022, aimed at labour shortages within the travel industry and encouraging prospective job seekers to consider TICO certification.
The series has since been recognized with a Platinum 2022 Viddy Award. The Viddy awards, in their 27th year, honour excellence in the way videos are created, produced, and delivered.
“As the travel industry rebounds, there is a tremendous amount of opportunity for new professionals to join the sector,” said TICO President and CEO Richard Smart. “This video series showcases the diversity, flexibility and career development that all begin with TICO certification. The industry is poised for growth and it’s essential that there are enough professionals to support Ontario’s vibrant travel marketplace in the years ahead.”
The video series was created in partnership with Oliver’s, the company that administers TICO’s Education Standards program. The series includes four videos that speak to TICO certification, along with a strong focus on professionalism and consumer protection.
Smart notes that since launch, the videos have been viewed 53,000+ times by Ontarians. TICO has promoted the videos through social media advertising, aimed at Ontario’s job seekers.
