TAIWAN — As the saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words. So, what do you think these pictures of EVA Air’s Hello Kitty-themed flights are saying?
For one thing, Hello Kitty is more popular than we ever thought. And another, EVA sure knows how to have fun.

The kitschy flights, which first launched in 2005, have seen renewed interest on social media now that they’re being offered 3x/week between Los Angeles and Taipei. Photos of the plane’s exterior, cabins and amenities have been popping up on Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest, and people are loving the absurdity of it all.
Not only is the outside of the plane decked out with giant-sized images of Hello Kitty and her friends, practically everything onboard has been customized to be either pink, animated, or cat-shaped, including the food.

Too much of a good thing? We say no way! At a time when airlines are eliminating all unnecessary frills, we appreciate and commend EVA for bringing fun back into flying.
EVA flies seven of its Hello Kitty painted aircraft on routes within Asia, in addition to its long-haul service to Los Angeles and Chicago. It brought back these flights to LAX on March 27, 2018 after rerouting them to fly Taipei-Paris in October 2014.
