Gal Hana, IMOT's Counsul of Tourism to Canada

“These five years have been incredibly rewarding”: IMOT’s Hana bids farewell

TORONTO — It was a very fond farewell at The Boulevard Club last night for Gal Hana, the Consul of Tourism to Canada for the Israel Ministry of Tourism (IMOT).

The scenic Toronto venue, with beautiful views of Lake Ontario, set the stage for Hana’s goodbye party. The room buzzed with enthusiasm as key industry members gathered for a pivotal event promoting Israel tourism – and to thank Hana for all his dedication and hard work.

Hana’s departure from IMOT was first announced last month.

Hana took over the reins at the Israel Ministry of Tourism’s Canada office in August 2019. He stepped into the role after serving as an advisor to the Director-General of the Ministry where he was instrumental in streamlining cross-office processes and promoting the development of projects to bolster tourism.

As Hana wraps up his five-year term, his heartfelt address last night made it clear he enjoyed his time in the role. “These five years have been incredibly rewarding,” said Hana. “Building strong partnerships in Canada has been a cornerstone of our strategy, and I’m excited about the opportunities ahead. The relationships we’ve built will continue to flourish, driving growth in tourism between our nations.”

Last night’s event also highlighted Israel’s current developments and future prospects, with updates from Jerry Adler, Communication and Media Director, and representatives from some of Israel’s top hotel chains.

“Israel is not just a destination; it’s an experience of a lifetime,” said Adler, sharing compelling narratives about Israel’s rich cultural heritage and diverse travel experiences.

Representatives from the Inbal, Dan, and Kempinski hotel chains then took the stage, outlining extensive renovations and new facilities at their Israel properties, and expressing their eagerness to welcome Canadian visitors.

In the heart of Tel Aviv, The David Kempinski combines stunning Mediterranean views with sophistication and luxury. Dan Hotels, with properties across Israel, blends modern elegance with rich heritage for an unforgettable stay at its 18 hotels and 3,669 rooms. And finally Inbal Hotels in Jerusalem redefines luxury with a mix of modern comfort and historic charm, offering unforgettable views of the Old City and an authentic Jerusalem experience with state-of-the-art amenities.

Going forward, Adler will continue to hold the fort in the IMOT Canada office. The team is also looking to recruit a new marketing manager.
