TORONTO — Sunwing will be ramping up services from two Canadian gateways this winter season: Kelowna, B.C. and Val-d’Or, Quebec.
From Kelowna, Sunwing will include direct flight service to Los Cabos in Pacific Mexico for the first time, departing Saturdays from Dec. 15, 2018 until April 20, 2019. The company will also be resuming its popular weekly flight services into Cancun, Mexico and Varadero, Cuba, giving Kelowna residents three convenient options to escape the cold.
Sunwing is one of Canada’s biggest travel providers to Los Cabos. With the addition of this new flight service from Kelowna, it will offer direct access to the popular Mexican destination from 11 airports coast to coast.
“We are excited for additional direct service to Los Cabos for YLW passengers,” said Sam Samaddar, Airport Director. “We’ve heard from passengers that they want to see more service to sunny destinations, and this is just one way we’re working to make this a reality.”
Sunwing offers a number of resort options in Los Cabos, including Riu Palace Baja California, an adults-only resort slated to open in December, and the neighbouring Riu Sante Fe, home to the new Splash Water World water park. Also available is the recently enhanced Krystal Grand Los Cabos, which boasts supervised kids activities, an infinity pool, five specialty restaurants and the panoramic Sky Bar.
Sunwing has also announced that it will be returning to Val-d’Or, Quebec this winter, with an increased number of destinations served.
Returning to the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region for an 11th consecutive season, Sunwing will be adding direct flight services to Cancun and Cayo Santa Maria in addition to bringing back its popular flight service to Punta Cana.
Weekly flights to Cancun will be available between Dec. 10, 2018 and April 15, 2019, while a regular Tuesday service to Cayo Santa Maria will operate from Dec. 11, 2018 until April 16, 2019. Monday flights to Punta Cana (via Montreal) begin Dec. 10, 2018 and run until April 15, 2019.
“Saving customers time and money by enabling them to depart from their local airport is one of our key drivers and we are justly proud to have operated flights from Val-d’Or for over a decade,” said Sam Char, Executive Vice President of Sunwing Travel Group in Quebec. “We are delighted to be able to offer even more flight options than ever and look forward to returning to Val-d’Or for an 11th consecutive winter season.”
The new flight services will provide local residents with convenient access to some of Sunwing’s most popular resorts, including the family-friendly Viva Wyndham Maya near Playa del Carman, Mexico, and the top-rated Riu Republica in Punta Cana, D.R., a beachfront property featuring the only water park in the Caribbean for adults. There’s also the all-inclusive Grand Memories Cayo Santa Maria in Cuba, a great option for families.
