TORONTO — The first Sunwing flight from Toronto to Grenada took off this past Sunday from Toronto Pearson, marking the first of this season’s brand new flight service from Sunwing from Toronto to the Caribbean island, operating weekly every Sunday until April 21.
Sunwing’s President of Tour Operations, Andrew Dawson, said Sunwing is “delighted to provide our travellers in the Greater Toronto Area with a new sought-after destination from Toronto Pearson Airport. The island of Grenada is a welcome addition to our expanding roster of destinations and with newly announced plans for our hotel partners, Royalton Luxury Resorts, to open their first resort on the island in late 2019, this flight service comes at an exciting time”.
In other news Sunwing was also celebrating its first flight since 2013 from Toronto to Cienfuegos. The flight took wing yesterday from Toronto Pearson International Airport.
The tour operator’s seasonal Cienfuegos service operates Mondays until April 22. Sunwing is anticipated to be the only leisure carrier to offer a direct flight service from Toronto to Cienfuegos this year.
The return to Cienfuegos “highlights our commitment to providing Canadian travellers with the widest range of flights and destinations in Cuba than any other tour operator,” noted Dawson.
Resort options include Memories Trinidad del Mar and Club Amigo Ancon.
Sunwing marked another first on Dec. 15 with the first-ever Sunwing flight from Kelowna, B.C. to Los Cabos from Kelowna International Airport. Sunwing’s new weekly direct flight service from Kelowna to Los Cabos departs every Saturday until April 20. Dawson says residents of Kelowna and southern B.C. can now look forward to three convenient choices of vacation destinations including Los Cabos, Cancun and Varadero. Sunwing’s resort options in Los Cabos include Riu Sante Fe and Royal Solaris Los Cabos.
Another first for the company, direct service between Miami and Ottawa, also got started Dec. 15 with weekly flights every Saturday until March 30. Sunwing is anticipated to be the only leisure carrier to offer direct flights from the Canadian capital to Miami this winter.
