ORKNEY ISLANDS, SCOTLAND – It takes less time to fly from Westray to Papa Westray in Scotland’s Orkney Islands than it does to boil an egg.
It’s true. According to The Telegraph, the Westray-Papa Westray commercial route is the shortest flight in the world, lasting as little as 47 seconds (depending on wind direction). That’s right, seconds.
The distance between the two locations is little more than a mile. Loganair, a Scottish regional airline, has been operating the inter-island service since 1967. The flight is priced at just £21.
