WASHINGTON, DC — Three Alberta travel advisors had the time of their lives in Washington, D.C. thanks to the ‘Sell Your Way to the USA’ incentive.
Sandra Tompkins with TierOne Travel in Calgary, Kelsey Winter with AMA Travel in Edmonton and Sue Kos –with Bee Travel (Flight Centre Independent) in Sherwood Park took three of the 12 top spots in the ‘Sell Your Way to the U.S.A.’ contest, winning a land and air inclusive FAM trip to the U.S. capital for their efforts.
The three agents were joined by Destination DC’s Lindsay Hill, Erica Riddle and Erika Jones on the week-long getaway earlier this month.
The group travelled to Washington via Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) with Destination DC’s air partner, Air Canada, experiencing their award-winning service.
A tour of iconic monuments and memorials with a private tour by WeVenture included enjoyed a DC Mural Tour exploring the street art of NoMa, the sights, sounds and tastes at Union Market and historic Ford’s Theatre, the site of former President Lincoln’s assassination in April 1865. The group also visited world-renowned museums including the International Spy Museum, the National Museum of African American History and Culture, and the National Museum of Natural History.
The host hotel was the Fairmont Washington, DC, Georgetown, a brand with Canadian roots. Meals at Lapis, Bistro Du Jour and Sequoia Restaurant showcased some of the city’s best dining. A night at the Tony-Award winning theatre, Arena Stage for the musical ‘Ride the Cyclone’ rounded out the trip.
Theresa Belpulsi, Senior Vice President, Tourism, Sports and Visitor Services at Destination DC, said: “The ‘Sell Your Way to the USA’ program provides a mutual benefit as Destination DC assists agents with their destination knowledge through webinars and training programs, and agents receive fun incentives for bookings. We were ecstatic to welcome the first incentive trip for the Sell Your Way to the USA winners to experience the unique offerings of Washington, DC first-hand, and for our team to build relationships with consultants in an exciting setting. We look forward to continuing our work with the program to host another similar incentive trip in the future.”
Three more trips including Oregon, Seattle and Utah are on the horizon for nine more Sell Your Way to the USA winners in the next few months.
