ORLANDO – Nothing to see here, folks, just your average gator crossing the road.

But for the passengers onboard a Spirit Airlines flight departing Orlando International Airport, the slow-moving, prehistoric-looking creature was anything but ordinary.

In a video taken by a passenger and uploaded to Facebook, the massive alligator is seen casually crossing the taxiway, presumably on its way to cool off in the nearby pond. The video, uploaded on June 11, has already been viewed over 323,000 times.

People were quick to comment on the wildlife sighting, which according to locals is a pretty common occurrence. Carolina Henao wrote: “Hahah can’t get any more Floridian than this!”

Others expressed their dismay at having missed out on one of Florida’s top tourist draws. Traci DeLore wrote: “Jealous! Every trip to Florida, I start gator watch from the minute the plane lands and never see one around.”

And Kathy Daughtrey Disel praised the gator for giving tourists “ the ultimate Florida welcome!”
