CALGARY — A record two million passengers flew with WestJet last month, contributing to a load factor of 85.2%, the second-highest load factor ever for the airline for the month of July.
Revenue passenger miles (RPMs), or traffic, increased 13.9% year over year, and capacity, measured in available seat miles (ASMs), grew 10.7% over the same period. WestJet’s two million passenger figure beat out its July 2015 passenger figure by some 126,000, for an increase of 6.6%.
“We are very pleased with our continued double-digit traffic growth as we achieved our second-highest July load factor and flew a record two million guests for the month of July,” said WestJet President and CEO Gregg Saretsky, who went on to thank WestJet employees for their commitment to providing “a remarkable guest experience” through the busy summer travel season.
