PALMA DE MALLORCA — RIU Hotels & Resorts has expanded the lineup of amenities at its adults-only Riu Republica in the D.R.
RIU says that following the five-star resort’s opening a little over a year ago on Punta Cana’s Arena Gorda beach, “and seeing how much customers loved it”, the company decided to expand the amenities with the addition of Splash Water World water park, four new à la carte restaurants, three swimming pools and 300 new rooms.
Splash Water World is exclusively for Riu Republica guests, adds RIU, making it the second park of this type RIU has in Punta Cana. With the expansion the resort also now has eight swimming pools, including three with swim-up bars and one covering 900 square metres. All the pools are surrounded by sun decks with lounge chairs.
Riu Republica also now offers a total of 10 restaurants: two buffets for breakfast and dinner; the Italian ‘Tarantella’; the Asian ‘Kaori’; the steakhouse ‘Quisqueya’; two ‘Kulinarium’ fusion eateries; the Spanish restaurant ‘Olé’, which serves typical dishes from Spanish culture; a new jerk grill open daily in the pool zone; and the ‘Taj Mahal’, serving up Indian cuisine.
The hotel also now has a total of 1,382 rooms, including eight suites, 12 two-bedroom family rooms, and six rooms that are fully adapted for people with reduced mobility. Other amenities include eight bars (one open 24 hours a day), a gym, a steam bath, a Jacuzzi and the Renova Spa wellness centre.
