PALMA DE MALLORCA — The Riu Plaza The Gresham Dublin has wrapped up a significant refurbishment project.
The four-star hotel is on O’Connell Street, in the heart of Dublin. The Gresham, an iconic property dating back to 1817, has been a staple of Dublin’s hospitality scene for over two centuries. Landmarks including the River Liffey, Croke Park, Dublin Castle, the Temple Bar area, and the Henry Street shopping district are right nearby.
With four wings built in different periods, the hotel’s architectural complexity underscores its historical significance, says RIU. The company says it elected to maintain the hotel’s original name as a sign of respect for the building’s storied past.
The renovation marks a major upgrade to the hotel’s facilities, adding 16 new rooms to increase its total to 404, while all rooms have been modernized with contemporary amenities.
The refurbishment included updates to nearly all of the hotel’s existing rooms. The property also features 11 meeting and conference rooms, a fitness centre, the Writer’s Lounge bar, and two dining venues: the Gallery and Toddy’s Restaurant.
The renovation aligns with sustainable practices, as the hotel now exclusively uses electricity sourced from renewable resources. This initiative is part of the RIU Hotels & Resorts’ broader sustainability efforts, underpinned by their Proudly Committed Sustainability Strategy.
