NEW YORK CITY – RIU Hotels & Resorts has landed in the heart of New York City with its first ever hotel in the Big Apple.
Representing RIU’s largest investment to date at a total cost of US$310 million, the newly constructed, 647-room Riu Plaza New York Times Square has a prime location in Manhattan, just steps from Times Square on Restaurant Row. The investment included the land purchase, construction and decoration.
The 647 rooms are divided into doubles, executives, family suites, junior suites and the presidential suite. Room amenities include a minibar, flatscreen television and complimentary Wi-Fi, which will be available throughout the hotel.
Guests can dine on-site at Fashion, an à la carte restaurant open for lunch and dinner, as well as for snacks from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m., daily. The casual grab-and-go Capital will offer coffee, tea, soft drinks and healthy bites for guests on the go.
For business travellers, the hotel boasts two conference rooms with capacity for 70 and 75 people, respectively, along with two meeting rooms. Meeting planners and business guests also have access to full audiovisual equipment and Wi-Fi. A fitness centre is also available on site.
“This opening is a dream come true. It took us nearly 10 years to find the most appropriate opportunity to invest in the right location in New York, in addition to the three years it took to prepare and build the hotel. However, without a doubt, all of the effort and work was worth it, seeing how the Riu Plaza New York Times Square hotel is now a reality,” said Luis Riu, CEO of RIU Hotels & Resorts.
Opening rates at the Riu Plaza New York Times Square start at US$179 per room, per night. For more details visit riu.com.
