TORONTO — The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection’s very first vessel will be aptly named ‘Azora’, meaning ‘sky blue’, which ties in the natural elements and the brand’s signature colour.
According to Doug Prothero, chief executive of The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection, the name was selected to embody the “wanderlust of a luxury journey at sea” and inspire travellers to “dream of their next destination”. He also said the colour blue suggests “peace” and “clarity”, and that as the company’s signature “inspiration-inducing” colour, it was a fitting choice.
The Azora will be the first of three custom-built yachts in 2020, with most voyages ranging from seven to 10 nights. Each yacht will boast 149 suites, each with its own private terrace, and accommodate up to 298 guests.
Other onboard amenities will include two 138 square-metre duplex penthouse suites, a three Michelin-starred restaurant, a spa, wine bar and a wide variety of entertainment.
The Azora will sail a variety of destinations, including the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, the Caribbean and Latin America.
Reservations are now open for the 2020 inaugural season.
