TORONTO — H.I.S.-Red Label Vacations Inc. is expanding into the U.S. market.
The company’s new brand, Copolo, is positioned as an OTA for airline tickets, hotel reservations, car rentals, and more.
A partnership with CHOOOSE, a climate-focused technology company in Oslo, means Copolo customers can opt to offset the carbon emissions produced from their trip.
Says Hideo Hatano, Executive Officer / H.I.S. Co., Ltd.: “The Copolo brand is the first step in our global expansion, and we are excited about this breakthrough venture. As the first Japanese-owned travel company to incorporate a climate solution as an integrated part of its platform, we’re able to help travellers access the best travel options worldwide. We will continue investing in the most sophisticated systems to maintain our pursuit of excellence and building a better tomorrow.”
Hatano added: “Red Label Vacations’ travel technology solutions and the executive team have been an instrumental part of this project.”
Red Label Vacations Inc. announced its acquisition by a subsidiary of the H.I.S. Group in January 2019, and the deal was completed in March 2019.
The company says the Copolo brand name was inspired by explorer Marco Polo and serves as a symbol of the company’s mission: “The goal is to have a competitive booking platform while offering more sustainable travel solutions.”
Frank DeMarinis, CEO, H.I.S-Red Label Vacations Inc., says: “We are thrilled to bring a forward-thinking travel company into the United States to help serve today’s conscious traveller. There is a rising demand for more sustainability programs, and as leaders in travel, we want to accelerate this concept within our industry by utilizing the best technologies to create massive momentum. By working with a leader in climate solutions, CHOOOSE, we can implement immediate action to minimize the carbon footprint created by travel while adhering to stringent international standards. We aim to provide travellers with great options in a way that contributes to positive steps in the right direction for our planet.”
Travellers who offset their trip as part of their Copolo booking will receive a certificate recognizing that their travel footprint has been climate compensated. With an eye to transparency, Copolo will also provide a post-purchase experience enabling travellers to claim, track, and engage with the impact they create.
“We are delighted to team up with Copolo to build travel back better together by enabling global travellers to offset their carbon footprint as an integrated part of the customer journey,” says CEO and founder of CHOOOSE, Andreas Slettvoll.
In future phases of Copolo, says RLV, “more travel styles will be available for booking and continue innovations will be developed toward providing the most holistic OTA experience on the market.”
