TORONTO — Credit card travel reward program RBC Rewards has signed on with Airbnb Canada to offer RBC Rewards points when customers book an Airbnb stay anywhere in the world.

This is the first deal of its kind in Canada, said a spokesperson. Airbnb partners with AMEX in the U.S.

RBC Rewards clients who book an Airbnb stay until Feb. 29, 2016 using their RBC Rewards credit card will automatically earn twice the points for every $1 in bookings. Those booking for the first time on Airbnb will receive an additional 7,000 welcome bonus points. More information is at airbnb.ca/stay/rbc-rewards.

In the past year, more than 935,000 Canadians used Airbnb to book their travel, both within Canada and to destinations worldwide, said Aaron Zifkin, country manager for Canada, Airbnb.
