GENOA — Virgin Voyages is giving the industry a sneak peek at the dining venues slated to make their debut on its ships starting with the Scarlet Lady in 2020. From the looks of things, in keeping with Virgin’s unique style, this is not your same-old, same-old cruise décor.
Virgin Voyages says it was inspired by the best eats in top cities around the world as it designed the menus and look for its onboard restaurants and bars.
“From SoHo to Shoreditch, there’s a medley of eateries and experiences that stand out. And while the most famous cities in the world might not be able to agree on who does what the best, there will be no debate about the delicious delights you can only find aboard the Scarlet Lady,” says the cruise line.
A picture is worth a thousand words, so have a look…
RAZZLE DAZZLE
Virgin Voyages says the eye-popping Razzle Dazzle is “vegetarian-forward”. Just to keep things interesting, for two days on every voyage, Razzle Dazzle will host the Drag Brunch: “Our dashing, delightful, beautiful, sassy, scandalous, and scintillatingly spectacular drag queens will take over this space to provide some entertainment even Sin City wouldn’t know what to do with.”
WAKE
Located at the aft of the ship, the mod Wake offers (appropriately enough) wake views along with steak and seafood on the plates.
TEST KITCHEN
Billed as an experimental, lab-like restaurant, Test Kitchen is where chefs have “carte blanche” with the menu, hand-picking all the ingredients and writing them down on the menu. “As for how those ingredients will come together, you won’t know unless you dare to dine with us.”
GEONBAE
Virgin Voyages says Geonbae will have the best Korean BBQ on the seven seas – and the first round of top shelf soju shots are on the house.
PINK AGAVE
Mexican dining with upscale and refined décor
THE GALLEY
A made-to-order food market “with options galore”.
THE PIZZA PLACE
No doubt destined to be a crowd-pleaser, The Pizza Place offers custom-made pizza – at your seat or hammock.
EXTRA VIRGIN
This Italian-inspired venue is a “pasta-focused eatery deeply rooted in Italian traditions” with top tier dining that feels like a home-cooked meal, says Virgin.
