Direct rail route linking Paris and Milan is back in action

PARIS — Rail Europe is giving the industry a heads up that the direct train linking Paris and Milan is fully back in action.

The full route was temporarily suspended in August 2023 due to damage caused by landslides in the Maurienne Valley.

Since that time travellers have been required to take buses midway through the route, making the journey significantly longer.

“With the announcement of the seamless high-speed 7-hour direct connection via TGV INOUI or Trenitalia’s ever-popular Frecciarossa, travelling between the beloved European countries has just gotten easier – and greener (thanks to rail being one of the most green modes of transportation),” according to Rail Europe.
