TORONTO — Porter Airlines is celebrating its 18th anniversary with significant milestones in its expansion and service offerings.

Over the past year, the airline became the second-largest airline operating flights to the U.S. and Canada from Toronto Pearson International Airport, and the largest carrier from Ottawa.

In the last 12 months, Porter has seen remarkable growth, increasing its workforce from 1,500 to over 3,900 employees. It also expanded its fleet, taking delivery of 20 new E195-E2 aircraft, bringing its total to 42 out of a planned order of 100. Overall, Porter’s fleet now includes 71 aircraft, comprising 29 De Havilland Dash 8-400 planes.

In terms of new routes, Porter introduced 20 new ones this past year, raising its total to 65, and now serving 38 destinations across North America. Notably, the airline has extended its reach into Florida, launching flights to six destinations, alongside services to major cities like Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas, and Phoenix. This winter, it will also commence operations to San Diego and Palm Springs. A dedicated base at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport enhances connectivity across Eastern Canada and the U.S.

Over the years, Porter has emerged as a differentiator in the economy travel sector eliminating middle seats on all flights, offering complimentary beer and wine served in glassware, and providing a selection of premium snacks and fresh meal options. Additionally, all passengers can enjoy free streaming WiFi on the new E195-E2 aircraft.
