Porter posts statement after flight cancellations in wake of tech outage

TORONTO — Porter Airlines has cancelled all of its flights until at least 3 p.m. (ET) today in the wake of the global technology outage.

The outage is impacting not just many of the world’s airlines but also banks, hospitals and other organizations worldwide.

Porter posted this message on its site …

“Porter Airlines is cancelling flights until 3 p.m. ET, for July 19, 2024, due to prolonged third-party technology systems outages affecting multiple global industries. This applies to all areas of our website, mobile app, reservations, flight changes and inquiry systems. Further delays and cancellations are possible.

“Passengers cannot be rebooked while systems are offline. The rebooking process will take a period of time, with new flights confirmed over a number of days due to high passenger volume. Communication via email and text will be delayed. The most immediate source of information regarding passenger reservations will be via My Bookings at flyporter.com, once systems are online.

“Call Centre agents currently do not have access to reservation or rebooking information. Extended wait times are likely due to anticipated high call volumes.

“Any passengers needing to cancel travel plans as a direct result of the systems issue will be offered full refunds. When our website is active, you may submit your refund requests using our Customer Relations contact. Refunds will be processed at a later date.

“It is not necessary to contact Porter prior to your scheduled flight. We’re working to return service to you as quickly as possible.”

Porter Airlines’ site is FlyPorter.com.
