The new Skal Toronto board is in place for the year. Brent Bowes holds the role of President of the club for the second year. Also on the board are Susan Webb, Skal Canada Rep and VP Skal Canada; Fred Azouz, VP; Kimberly Hartley, Secretary; Audrius Vasilius, Young Skal Director; Joanne Gellatly, Young Skal; Scott Barker, Treasurer; Mary Heron, Executive Secretary; and Mike Hannah, Executive Treasurer. The Skal Toronto Club AGM was held on Jan. 25 at the Lambton Golf and Country Club, where the new board was announced. The Skal Toronto Club donated $11,000 to Daily Bread Food bank resulting from a successful golf tournament and Christmas Gala auction in 2015 and the financial results for 2015 outlined during the meeting were “very positive”, according to organizers. The Skal Toronto Club will be focusing on increasing membership in 2016 by creating value for their members and planning effective, fun networking events. The next meeting will be held at Humber College on March 22. The annual Skal Toronto Golf Tournament will take at the Royal Woodbine Golf Club on Aug. 9. Other Skal Toronto coming up in 2016 include a cooking class evening, a cruise of the Toronto harbour and a Mystery Dinner event. President Brent Bowes recognized Susan Webb as the Skal Toronto Club member of the year for her passion and continued support to the club and the Skal organization nationally.
