HALIFAX — We already know how hard travel agents work, but did anyone realize how high they can climb?
A group of Maritime Travel counsellors reached new heights earlier this month when they reached Mount Everest Base Camp (and back) as part of a G Adventures fam. Nine agents trekked a total of 170 kilometres in Nepal, a challenge like no other, said Tammy Morgan, Branch Manager, Pickering, ON.
“This was one of our most amazing trips to date. It was not without its challenges, with the altitude change and the terrain. But what an amazing bunch of troopers we were. We helped and supported each other. Talk about team building!” she said.
Morgan also praised G Adventures for doing an “amazing job”, and described the guides as “incredible”.
The group was joined by Ashley Jean and Denise Harper of G Adventures, as well as Susan Grant of Air Canada. It took a total of 11 days to complete the trek, at the end of which the group pitched Maritime Travel flags.
The Everest Base Camp fam is one of dozens of exclusive fams Maritime Travel offers its agents each year. More than 200 Maritime Travel counsellors travelled on an exclusive company fam in the past year.
“We want our staff to travel as much as possible,” said Blair Jerrett, Senior Director of Marketing. “It’s a big part of our company culture and we work hard to make that happen.”
