MIAMI — NCL’s Norwegian Escape has pulled free after running aground off the shores of the Dominican Republic.
The ship was departing Puerto Plata in high winds on Monday when it hit the sea bed. Crew and local tugboat operators worked into the night to free the ship.
Passengers onboard tweeted that the ship was freed just after midnight today.
The ship departed Port Canaveral on Saturday for a week-long Caribbean itinerary.
The next ports on Norwegian Escape’s itinerary are St. Thomas followed by Tortola and then Great Stirrup Cay, NCL’s private island in the Bahamas.
