CELEBRATION, FL — Ahead of the official introduction of its newest ship later this week, Disney Cruise Line has released new visuals to get imaginations soaring.
Disney Wish, the fifth ship in DCL’s fleet, is scheduled to enter service in summer 2022.
While new details about the new ship will be revealed this Thursday, April 29, DCL wanted to give the trade and loyal passengers a sneak peek, with a new rendering of Disney Wish Grand Hall, and a new video, ‘Designing the Disney Wish’.
“Enchantment is about unlocking the wonder in everything we do and experience,” said Laura Cabo, portfolio creative executive, Walt Disney Imagineering. “For the Disney Wish, we are creating a signature design language that exudes this emotional magic like only Disney can, by infusing every inch of this enchanted ship with more Disney stories and characters than ever before. The Disney Wish will be a place where families really do get to wish upon a star.”
Adds Cabo in the video: “With all our design work, we’re creating a castle on the sea.”
Artwork on the bow of the Disney Wish, a hallmark of Disney Cruise Line vessels, will feature Captain Minnie Mouse. Captain Minnie, who made her debut aboard Disney Cruise Line ships in 2019 as part of a collection of initiatives aiming to inspire the next generation of female leaders in the cruise industry.
The Disney Wish is the first of three new Disney Cruise Line ships to be built at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany through 2025.
All three ships will be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG) and, at about 144,000 gross tons, will be slightly larger than the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy.
New information on the experiences, itineraries and booking dates for Disney Wish will be revealed on April 29, 2021, during a first-of-its-kind virtual event, ‘Once Upon a Disney Wish’. More information is at the Disney Parks Blog, and Travelweek Daily will have follow-up coverage from the April 29 event.
