TORONTO — The Myrtle Beach Area Specialist Program on Travelweek’s Learning Centre gives agents a chance to win prizes while learning about this great destination and earning CITC credits.
Octobers winners are Marilyn Long, Charlene Atwell and Adrienne McGrath who have won $10 gift cards from Tim Hortons, while Teelah Brown, Michael Tate and Nancy Orfeo have won beach bags or Skywheel tickets.
“For over 50 years the Myrtle Beach area has been a favourite destination for Canadians, whether they choose to drive or fly, especially with our direct nonstop flights offered by Porter Airlines from Toronto and by Spirit Airlines out of Niagara Falls, NY. Our southern hospitality, beautiful beaches and mild climate make it the ideal destination during the shoulder months, especially when our temperatures are still close to those further south, but our room rates are much less expensive,” says Elaine Micaud, International Sales Manager, Myrtle Beach Area Convention & Visitors Bureau.
The MBA Specialist Program was launched in celebration of Myrtle Beach’s 75th anniversary. And to celebrate, 75 prizes will be given away over the course of the program including gift cards, beach bags, show tickets and more. Go to travelweeklearningcentre.ca/workshops/preview/27.
The MBA Specialist Program gives agents an opportunity to learn where to stay in Myrtle Beach, about the destination, getting active and cultural attractions, as well as all the must-know tips for agents selling the product. It is designed to educate the Canadian travel trade on the comprehensive product offering available in the Myrtle Beach area.
“Knowledge of the destination, and its products and services, is necessary for travel agents to confidently sell it to their clients. It is also important for travel agents to experience the ‘new’ Myrtle Beach area first hand – seeing is believing – and once you see it you will sell it,” says Kimberly Hartley.
The Myrtle Beach Area CVB continues to show its commitment to the Canadian market through the representation services offered to the travel industry in Canada by Travel Solutions by Design, led by Kimberly Hartley, as the Canadian Account Manager.
Since December 2009, Kimberly and her CVB staff in Myrtle Beach have participated in numerous travel trade shows, hosted annual travel agent fam tours, offered many travel trade trip prizes contests and promoted the destination at various Myrtle Beach area special events.
Agents have into the New Year to complete the MBA Specialist Program, but if the program is completed by the end of 2013 agents will also be entered into a draw to win 8,000 Air Miles reward miles. Or if agents are new to Travelweek’s Learning Centre, they will be entered to win the reward miles just for registering at Travelweek.ca/airmiles using promo code SmileWithAirMiles.
