Peterborough, ON lift lock on the Trent-Severn Waterway

Le Boat expands Canadian operations with new sailings on Trent-Severn Waterway for 2024

SMITHS FALLS, ON —Le Boat has announced an expansion of its Canadian operations to include the Trent-Severn Waterway starting in 2024.

As always, all Le Boat bookings are commissionable to travel advisors.

The company is also teasing a new website just for the travel trade. “Stay tuned for the travel advisor site coming soon filled with agent tools, images, and more,” says Le Boat.

Le Boat first launched in Canada back in 2018 with rentals along the Rideau Canal. Further expansion in the Ottawa region came earlier this year with a new base at Ottawa’s Dows Lake Pavilion, allowing for one-way sailings into Ottawa.

Now Le Boat has announced it will add eight luxury Horizon Cruisers and a base at Horseshoe Bay Marina in Peterborough, ON for rentals on the popular and scenic Trent-Severn Waterway.

Cruises are now on sale for the 2024 season.

“We cannot wait for May 2024 when we open our next Canadian base on the historical Trent-Severn Waterway at Horseshoe Bay Marina. Our customers have been asking when we will be offer luxury boat rental vacation on the Trent Severn Waterway and we are excited to give them what they have been waiting for,” said Lisa McLean, Le Boat’s North American Marketing Manager and Head of Canada Development.

The Kawartha Lakes Region and Peterborough’s famous lift locks are just two of the highlights along the Trent Severn. Suggested itineraries include a cruise north from Peterborough to Bobcaygeon, or a return trip cruising south toward the historical town of Trenton.

Le Boat anticipates that the new itineraries will attract new customers from the GTA and Quebec as well as the U.S. and, internationally, from Germany, France, UK, Ireland, Australia and South Africa.

The eight premier Horizon Cruisers will range in size from 2-bedrooms to 4-bedrooms. Pricing starts at Cdn$2,800 for a week on a Horizon 1 Cruiser that sleeps up to five people. Travellers can choose a three- to six-night short break or a seven- to 10+ night vacation. No Boat license or prior boating experience is required, as Le Boat’s Base Team teaches travellers everything they need to know to captain the boat themselves.

Le Boat’s 2024 early booking offer to book the Trent-Severn waterway before Sept. 3, 2023 comes with savings worth up to 15% on a 2024 cruise. Le Boat also has a Lowest Price Guarantee on all 2024 departures.

In a May 2022 interview with Travelweek, McLean shared that many Canadians who discovered Le Boat as a great staycation during the pandemic have come back as loyal customers.

Some started out by booking a boat for just a few nights, “then at the end of the three or four nights many were calling us asking if they could book more nights, they loved it so much,” McLean told Travelweek. Many converts are booking multiple weeks at a time, she added. “People are treating it like a cottage.”
