BOWMANVILLE, ON — With decades of experience providing hosted adventures across the globe, Kemp Travel will now offer itineraries designed by, and extended exclusively to women.

Erin Kemp, a manager in the family owned business, and frequent tour host, notes that demand was high. Single women are frequent travellers on their hosted trips, and Kemp says they received plenty of requests for this type of journey.

“The host will be female, and the biggest thing – you’ll be with a group of like-minded women,” she says.

While Kemp Travel is a travel agency, she says that other travel agents can book their own clients into the tours.

Travellers can join the tours on their own, or with friends, and groups are capped at a maximum of 15. They will focus on destinations and activities that are typically requested by women, or places where women might feel less comfortable on solo or self-guided trips.

The first, an eight-day tour of Costa Rica in the spring 2022, will offer a wellness theme. The group will enjoy yoga sessions overlooking the Arenal Volcano, a visit to a coffee plantation, therapeutic mud baths, waterfall swims, surf lessons and plenty of time to soak in hot springs.

The second, to Morocco in the fall 2022, will take another small group on a two-week adventure from Casablanca to Marrakech, including a visit to a women’s co-op making Argan Oil, shopping stops for handmade leather goods, plus cooking classes and camel rides.

A third, SCUBA dive-themed trip, is planned for the Caribbean island of Roatan. All itineraries include round-trip airfare in economy, accommodation, most breakfasts and dinners, plus local transportation and scheduled activities and lessons.

Kemp adds that they will add in as many female-friendly features as possible, including women as local guides, and dining in women-led restaurants. And she notes that, in the coming era of post-pandemic travel, hosted trips add an extra (and often vital) level of assurance. Travelling in a hosted group, you have someone on the ground with you, should plans change while you’re abroad.

“And, importantly,” she says, “you’ll have the comfort of a familiar face from home.”
