Journey the Globe launches ‘A Taste of India’ culinary odyssey

TORONTO — Journey the Globe, along with the India Tourist Office, is bringing to fruition a project aimed at exposing Canadians to India’s cuisine with a culinary tour of India.

“Along with all the incredible history, culture and mystique surrounding this ancient superpower today, India is renowned for its food and culinary heritage and this tour promises to be an accomplishment that we are proud of,” said Jackie Bishop, President of Journey the Globe.

“Journey the Globe fully understands that the modern traveller is looking for diversity and authenticity and we strive to do our best to offer up genuine and in-depth theme- based tours along with niche and unique packages that offer a true and ‘real’ portrayal of a destination.”

A Taste of India spends 12 days in the country and is accompanied by a celebrity chef.

The tour starts in Delhi where in addition to sightseeing there is a special Wazwan lunch of Kashmiri origin, with a special dinner at Aangan, the finest restaurant in the city.

In Agra, along with seeing the Taj Mahal, there is lunch at Peshawri and dinner is a six-course meal at Dawat – e- Nawab, where you dine like a Nawab (King).

There is a special lunch at Laxmi Vilas in Bharatpur, special dinner with Royalty at the Narayan Niwas Palace, where food is served from the Royal Kitchens as well as a special lunch at Swapana Mahal in Jaipur. There is also a visit to Chokhi Dhani Village, with Rajasthani culture on full display.

Other meals include lunch at Nimaj Palace at ‘Dari-Khanna’ Restaurant, lunch at Rohet Garh – an ancestral home since 1622 – dinner at the Step Well, lunch at Maharani Bagh and a special dinner at Jagmandir Island Palace.

All accommodation is in deluxe hotels and palaces and there will be cooking classes almost daily to help clients understand the various spices and techniques of Indian cuisine.

The tour is priced at US$3,595 (land only) or $4,995 (land and air) based on twin share plus $219 in taxes. The single room supplement is $990.
